internet safety for kids

This is a very important topic as well, we all know that children as very innocent and would talk to anyone.  Facebook for example is so dangerous, our children can get on there and be talking to anyone.  The people they think they are talking to could not really be that person, and they could get the right information and come to where you live or where they go.  It's very scary!

Things you should tell your children to avoid/ not to do on the internet

  1. Don't talk to anyone they don't know, this should be anywhere even off internet.
  2. Don't give out any information about where they live, age, or names.
  3. If someone sends them a message that is not necessary, they need to come tell you.
  4. Let you know what pictures they are wanting to post
  5. Not to give out any of their passwords to accounts
  6. Never agree to meet anyone anywhere
As parents we need to monitor what our kids are looking at as well, You can start by blocking sites.  This is very easy to do and you can also do this on their phones as well.  I understand that children will do what they want sometimes, but it starts with the parents and monitoring them to keep them safe.

Road safety for children

This information came from a great website http://asirt.org/tabid/276/Default.aspx

Ages 5-9

  • Teach and model safe traffic behavior.
  • Ensure that your children are supervised by a responsible adult on the way to and from school and whenever they are near roads.
  • Discuss road signs and traffic signals with your children. Help your children identify safe places to cross streets.
  • Discuss the rules for crossing with signals.
  • Reinforce the STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK procedure.
  • Set a good example by adopting safe pedestrian practices yourself.
  • The "Walking Bus" is a good way to model safe pedestrian practice for young children. Children and parents join with others walking to school to create a walking bus.

  • Ages 10-13

Children begin to cope with traffic independently, but need to be checked regularly. Ensure that they remember and follow safety procedures. Plan safe walking and cycling routes together. Strategies:
    • Encourage children to use controlled crossings and always STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK.
    • Help children choose a safe route to school.
    • Be realistic - if the route they usually follow is the quickest, but not necessarily the safest, help them identify and minimize the hazards.
    • Set a good example by observing the rules yourself.
    • Make sure your children know that there are increased risks to pedestrians during bad weather and at night. Encourage them to wear colors that are easily seen by day and by night.

    Carseat emergency contact forms

I want to suggest that all parents do this. It is very important and a lot of parents do think of it.  On your child's car seat tape a paper on the side where it is visible with there name, birth date, emergency contact other than your self, allergies. This way if you are ever in a wreck and your not able to talk than they have your child's information.

Here is a website where you can print some of these labels.

Do you constantly Fight your children to listen

Ok. This is very important and will help Parents with their children.  Do you find your self saying DON'T, NO, STOP, QUIT AND SO ON.  Are you tired of saying this everyday all day long, Because I was.  I finally found out that children don't respond well to this.  I found that if you tell your kids what they can do it works a lot better.

When your child is running and you want them to stop. Say " WE USE OUR WALKING FEET"
If your child is screaming in the house or car tell them " WE USE OUR INSIDE VOICE"
And so on. The key is to use We don't point their flaws out and what they are doing wrong.  When you are telling them to do this Just remember to not use "DONT, NO, STOP, QUIT, NOT".  This will take practice for you, and your kids will catch on. So just keep at it.  Also when you are saying this don't scream, use a calm voice and say it.

Did you know that most kids hear the last word that you say.  So when they are running away and your screaming "Don't Run", "Stop Running". All they are hearing is RUN or RUNNING.

    Boost your childs Self Esteem

    • Always try to make positive comments - as a parent you have great influence over your child. This will make your child feel wanted and appreciated.

    • Spend time together. You are busy, I know but to help your child you need to spend quality time together. This will also help your children build a closer bond with you.

    • Listen rather than talk. Your young child needs to express him/ herself and you should listen and try to understand. Listening to your children teaches them to be open and express their feelings.  This will also build a strong trust between you and your children.

    • Focus on the positive. It is so important to show that a positive attitude leads to happiness and success. Always focus and praise your child for what they do well. Don’t point out their weaknesses, If they do something wrong. Show them that this is how we do it.  Always praise, even for the smallest things.

    • Focus on the behavior not your child – When your child is misbehaving the key to remember is negative behavior gets no attention and positive gets attention. What I am trying to say is when your child is crying and throwing things, or whatever. Walk to them and say in a lower voice “When you calm down then we can talk about it.” Then walk away. Don’t stand there trying to talk to them, they aren’t listening to you.  Don’t speak to them until they calm down and come to you.  When they have calmed down tell them “I like the way you calmed yourself down.” See you focus on the positive behavior. This way they know hey I’m not going to get any attention when I’m bad, but they will give me attention when I’m good.  This will make a big difference. Trust me I know this is very hard to do, I have 3 all under 5. And one with disabilities, it’s very hard. You mostly just have to train yourself.
    • Give your children 3 praises a day.

    Sex during Pregnancy

    Having sex during pregnancy

Myth: Having sex can hurt the baby

Sex does not physically hurt the baby. According to the March of Dimes, sex is perfectly safe during pregnancy unless your doctor advises against having sex while pregnant — usually because you are experiencing a high-risk pregnancy.

Myth: The baby knows what's going on

The baby has no idea what Mom and Dad are doing. In fact, the baby is well protected by the amniotic sac and uterine muscles. The cervix is also sealed by a thick mucus plug. This is also very relaxing for the baby.

Myth: Sex can cause me to have a miscarriage

According to the Mayo Clinic, early miscarriages are usually related to conditions such as chromosomal abnormalities or other problems that are occurring in the developing baby. Sex does not cause miscarriages, butt your doctor may tell you not to have sex if you have a high risk pregnancy.

Myth: Pregnancy will kill my libido

Many women actually find that pregnancy makes them want more sex, according to the March of Dimes. The root of this sudden libido change? Hormones. Because hormones can fluctuate during different stages of your pregnancy, so may your libido. The first three months, especially, can be tiresome for newly pregnant moms because of soreness, frequent trips to the bathroom and morning sickness.

In the second trimester, those symptoms are usually more manageable, and women may find they have more desire for sex. Did you know women gain about three pounds of blood during pregnancy? According to the March of Dimes, most of that blood flow is below the waist line.

Myth: Pregnancy protects me from STDs

Pregnancy does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases, according to the Centers for Disease Control. If you contract an STD while pregnant, it could be transmitted to your baby.

    Sanity Saving ideas

Easy Ideas for Sanity Saving Breaks for Moms

    1. Get outside. I’m not one for lounging in the sun, but nothing refreshes me more than moving around outside. My favorite things to do are work in one of my gardens and play with my kids, and the best is when I can combine the two. We might garden together, or I might just listen to them tell stories in their tree fort while I trim trees and pull weeds. I just stepped back inside from a hilarious round of Frisbee with the boys and was presented with my first of many dandelion bouquets of the season.
    2. Create a retreat. You don’t have to wait to have one find you. I have two dear friends who are proactive and plan their own retreat weekends. They know when they need a break and either plan a girls’ night away or even a solo trip for reflection and rejuvenation. It doesn’t have to be expensive, either. Church groups and nature centers often offer basic accommodations free of distractions and commercialization if you’re looking for an overnight away from home.
    3. Exercise. I admit this one I struggle with sometimes because it doesn’t always feel like I am accomplishing anything that will be noticed – the laundry piles stay the same, the dishes still wait, and the floors are still dancing with dirt from the day. However, after one particularly long day at the computer of 13 hours of writing, there was nothing more needed than a bike ride to get my legs moving and my focus shifted. The healthy benefits can’t be denied, and if you are a work-at-home mom who sometimes sits at the computer too long, exercise is mandatory to feeling well.
    4. Play a game. Even a round of Go Fish with the little ones or a serious duel of Wii tennis can be the best distractions. Laughter can reduce stress hormones and lower blood pressure. Just make sure you are in the moment and not worrying about the next deadline or cake you need to bake for PTA. Playing with your family also reminds you of why you work so hard every day – them.
    5. Explore your faith. Research shows that people who have personal faith beliefs are healthier and can handle stress more effectively. Explore your faith by meditation, through prayer, in Bible study classes, or just evaluating your current faith options and beliefs.
    6. Sing and dance. You don’t have to carry a tune to let music have a positive effect on you. Music therapies are even now reaching schools, care centers, and places of business. Crank your favorite song and take a 5 minute break to just dance. My kids love for me to sing them the Irish songs my dad sang to me, download some of my old favorites, and have me listen to their music choices. Sometimes nothing is a better stress buster than good old fashioned karaoke in the kitchen!
    7. Leave. When all else fails and the day just can’t seem to be won, take a break. I love to call Road Trip! and have the kids pile in the van so we can all have a change of pace. It can change the energy of the day from negative and full of tension to refreshing perspectives. Go to the park, the zoo, visit someone at a nursing home, window shop for tree fort supplies, or even just go to the library. Sometimes I might call a road trip for myself, even just to get groceries. It is OK to leave the mess behind – it won’t miss us and with luck won’t multiply too heavily while we are gone.

No matter how you take your saving breaks, just make sure you take them before you really need them, and live in the moment. There is no point in a retreat if you spend it with regrets that you aren’t home. And it is difficult to lip sync to the classic oldies with a pout and frown on your face because you are too worried about the laundry on the line. Take time each day to renew yourself and your family will thank you.

    Positive Discipline

    1. Understand the meaning behind the behavior. Naomi Aldort, the author of "Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves," says that children want to behave well; if they seem to miss the mark, it's not without a valid reason. "The most important [thing] is to realize that whatever a child does, we may label as bad, [but really] the child is doing the best he can. It's our job as parents to find out why [he is] doing it," says Aldort. "Once we know the valid root of the behavior, we can easily remove the cause or heal the emotions, and the child won't be driven to behave in that way anymore."

So ask yourself: is your child hitting her sibling in a desperate bid for your attention? Maybe you stayed on the phone too long or ignored her as you rushed to get dinner on the table. If so, what correction can you make to your own behavior that will satisfy your child's need? "A lot of what we expect of children is unreasonable," says Aldort.
    2. Focus on controlling yourself—not your child. It's hard to keep cool in the heat of the moment, but Dr. Katharine C. Kersey, the author of "The 101s: A Guide to Positive Discipline," says that parents need to model the types of behavior they want their children to emulate. Remember, yelling begets yelling, hitting begets hitting. " We should not do anything in front of [our children] that we don't want them to do," she advises. In the case of an extreme behavioral flare-up, this may mean counting to 10, taking a deep breath or simply walking away until you've had time to collect yourself.

Jim Fay, the founder of the organization Love and Logic, agrees. "Anger and frustration feed misbehavior," he says. Fay offers an unusual tactic for keeping your voice in check: instead of yelling that your child is doing something wrong, try singing it. Fay teaches parents what he calls the "Uh Oh" song. If a child throws a toy after he's been asked to stop, you might sing, "Uh Oh, that's sad you threw your truck again. I think it's time the truck went away."
    3. Be consistent with your expectations. Aldort says that parents often overlook a certain behavior in the hope that it will pass. "But guess what?" she says. "It doesn't pass." If your child bites another child, for instance, you should hold her arm and tell her that the behavior is not acceptable. If she continues, then it is time to remove her from the situation.

Sometimes a child might try to test the limits by arguing with the rules. When this happens, Fay suggests neutralizing negotiations by repeating one simple mantra as often as necessary: "I love you too much to argue."
    4. Give attention to the behavior you like—not the behavior you don't. Children often act up because they want your attention, so sometimes it pays to ignore those actions you don't want to see more of. Kersey calls this the "Rain on the grass, not on the weeds" principle. Tantrums and whining? Play deaf or walk away, and your child will quickly learn that there's a better way to communicate.
    5. Redirect, redirect, redirect. Kids who hear "No" or "Don't" all the time tend to tune those directives out. So instead of telling your child what not to do, Kersey recommends instead offering a positive behavior to replace the misbehavior. For instance, a child acting up at the grocery store could be enlisted to help pick out oranges or rearrange the items in a grocery cart, or a kid running around a swimming pool might be challenged to walk "as if on marshmallows."
    6. Exploit the "energy drain." Any parent who's been in the trenches knows how tiring it is when a child acts up—but did you know that that fatigue can be used to your advantage? Fay calls this the "energy drain" principle. For instance, you might defuse a sibling confrontation by saying, "Wow, you need to take that fight with your brother somewhere else, because listening to that could cause me a big energy drain, and I don't think I'll have the energy to take you to the park after dinner."
    7. Don't bribe. It may be tempting to offer your child a cookie for behaving well during an outing, but Fay warns against it. Offering a child a reward sends the wrong message; what kids hear is "'You don't want to be very good and you have to be paid off,'" says Fay.

    Cae seat Safety!

In a report released in 2006 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it was found that the use of special booster seats in cars have led to the saving of the lives of 425 children below age 5. The report concluded that these special child safety seats helped in reducing the risk of death among infants by 71 percent and among toddlers by 54 percent.
It is not enough, however, that you have such a safety seat inside your car. You also need to know which type of seat is best for a particular age group and how to use them.

Let us take a look at the child safety seats that are currently available in the market…

    Infant Safety Seats

If a parent does not take the necessary steps to secure an infant’s safety inside a car, catastrophe can happen in the event of a car crash. According to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the immaturity and fragility of a baby’s head and neck makes them very susceptible to serious injuries resulting from whiplash and impact trauma. It is the recommendation that babies be secured in a rear-facing infant seat, so that his/her upper body will be in a more stable position in the event of a car crash.

Infant safety seats come with a base that is installed in the car. You just simply detach the seat from the base and use the handles to carry the baby around. A rear-facing infant seat is recommended for babies 1 year of age and below and weighing at least 20 pounds, although there are some models that can accommodate a weight of 30 pounds.

    Toddler Safety Seats

Although a toddler may be bigger than an infant, his or her body is still not strong enough to withstand strong impacts and collision resulting from car crashes. While it is still preferable that a toddler uses a rear-facing seat, parents can now opt for a convertible safety seat, wherein you can turn the seat so that it can face front or the rear. There are specifications for each model, but the age range for most convertible safety seats is 1 and 4 years old. Make sure that you read the instruction manual that comes with the safety seat carefully. Usually, you will need to change the toddler safety seat to forward-facing when your child reaches 40 pounds in weight.

    Booster Seats

Booster seats are recommended for children before they reach the height of 4 feet nine inches (which is around 8 years old). Some cars have harness-style seats which you can convert into booster seats just by taking off the harness. You can also purchase a separate booster seat, which is attached to the car shoulder or lap belt.

    Special Considerations

There are special considerations that you need to take note of aside from the car safety seat.

    1. Regardless of whatever type of safety seat you use, all children below 13 years old should be seated at the back seat of the car.

    2. Know how to use the Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system of your car. This is a system of hooks and restraints that make sure that child safety seat is secured to your car. You should know how to release the LATCH system in the event that you do get into a car accident and you need to get your baby out of the safety seat.

    Does Your Child have ADHD

    Does your child have ADHD??

Here are some of the behaviors associated with ADHD:

    • Has trouble finishing chores or homework
    • Has difficulty sitting still during dinner and/or at school
    • Loses items such as a shoe, pencil or homework
    • Has an extremely disorganized and messy room
    • Talks a lot
    • Interrupts a lot
    • Has an inability to listen when spoken to directly

Talk to your doctor to get more information about being diagnosed.

    Attention problems or seizures???

Have you ever heard of starring seizures?  I hadn't either until I realized that my 4 year old would just stare out in space.  I though maybe it was just her lack of attention because she has ADHD. I mentioned it to her doctor and done an EEG and found out that she is having these seizures and it can also cause behavior problems.  So if you notice any of these symptoms I would mention it to the doctor.

    Times outs

Time-outs are a great way to send a message to your child that you are not pleased with their behavior.  Here are 5 ways to do times outs.

    1. Place your child in a location that is boring with no distractions.  Your child should experience as close to “nothing” as possible.
    2. Your child’s bedroom should not be a place for time-out.  Instead, find a location where you can monitor them, but they cannot watch TV or look out a window.
    3. Use a timer.  If they leave before the timer goes off, reset it. Begin to increase the time to have a more meaningful impact.
    4. Once time-out is over have the child correct the action that caused them to be sent to time-out. If it was because they didn’t pick up their toys, have them return to that task.  If they refuse send them back to time-out and start the process over.
    5. Don’t take your child’s good behavior for granted.  Offer frequent praise for good behavior throughout the day.

I don't totally agree with this there are studies that have been conducted that instead of calling it time out you should call it "Time Away", this means they are having time away from everyone.  This don't mean you have to take your child to a different room, they just need to sit down away from everyone else. Don't talk to them while they are in time away, After they are done with the time go over and say 3 praises about them. Tell them "I like how you sat there like a big girl or boy",  " I like how you clamed your self down", As long as it is a praise.  Don't point out what is wrong with your child, tell them what they are good at.  This works great and promotes their self esteem

    ABC'S of Potty Training

    The ABCs of potty training

    A. Assess your child's readiness — and your own
    B. Buy the right equipment
    C. Create a routine
    D. Demonstrate for your child
    E. Explain the process
    F. Foster the habit
    G. Grab some training pants
    H. Handle setbacks gracefully
    I. Introduce night training
    J. Jump for joy — you're done!

    A. Assess your child's readiness- I gave the readiness signs above

    B. Buy the right equipment  buying a child size potty, it would also be good to buy a travel potty seat for you little one when away from home.

    C. Create a routine- I keep track of everything on my phone, They have potty training apps that will allow you to keep track of times you need to go to potty and everything.

    D. demonstrate for your child- Sometimes this isn't the easiest thing for moms to teach there son. Trust me I tried, but you can let the boys sit until they are comfortable standing. Or get your partner involved.

    E. Explain the steps, they are learning how to use the bathroom. You need to explain the steps to them.

    f. Foster the habit

    G. Grab some training pants, I think that these can be used for bedtime until they get use to going.

    H. handle setbacks- It may not work after the first few times, they may lose  interest or just not want to. Just start back the routine as soon as you can.

    I. this will be harder, you will actually have to wake them up and take them to the potty. No drink before bedtime usually helps as well.

    J. Jump for joy- this is always exciting for you and your child.  Celebrate!!!!

    cinnamon applesauce ornaments

    Craft Supplies:

    Cinnamon
    Apple Sauce
    Craft Glue
Cookie Cutters (cut by hand if you like)
    Ribbon
    Toothpick

    Craft Project Instructions:

Mix equal amounts of apple sauce and cinnamon and add 1 teaspoon of craft glue for every cup of applesauce

it seems using equal amounts of apple sauce and cinnamon sometimes results in wet dough. This depends on how watery your apple sauce is, so begin with one cup of apple sauce and one teaspoon of white glue, plus one cup of cinnamon - but also realize that you may need to add more cinnamon, in one-third cup increments, until the dough is of workable consistency.

Mix all ingredients until you have a firm but wet dough. If you like you can substitute small amounts of cinnamon for a little nutmeg or ground cloves.cinnamon

Roll out your dough to at least 1/4 inch thickness (less than this will make your ornaments a little weak and they break easily) and cut shapes with cookie cutters.

With a toothpick, poke a hole at the top of each ornament that is large enough for a ribbon to be pulled through. Place ornaments on a cooling rack or tray to dry completely. Depending on how large your ornaments are, drying could take a couple of days; it's best not to touch your ornaments during this time.

Once your ornaments are dry and if there are a few rough edges, you can easily remove the roughness with a little fine sandpaper. Sand your ornaments gently, as it doesn't take much to remove the little edges.

Tie a ribbon through the hole and, if you like, you can paint these ornaments or add a little glitter. Be sure not to cover the entire ornament with paint or the wonderful scent will be lost.

    children embarrasing parents

Has your child every embarrassed you in public?? I know mine has several times, You got to love how children say what's on their mind with out even thinking about it. I'm not trying to offend anyone but the other day took my 4year old to the store with me. We finally made it through the store after a long fight over cookies.  And was trying to check out and my daughter says "mom is that a boy or a girl, I'm not sure but it has boobies like a girl." I was so embarrassed, I told her I wasn't sure but please  be quite.

Here is another one and it really took a lot for me not to laugh when she said it.  We was having a yardsale and she was under one of the tables.  Two women walked up looking and as my daughter was under the table I heard " shew, look at her stinky toes, shew her butt skinks that nasty."  Need less to say they didn't buy anything from the yard sale.

What all has your child said that embarrassed you????

    Teaching your child resilience

This is a very important topic.   I am a child Psychologist and this is very important for parents to teach there children; but most parents don't.  I will give you tips on teaching your child resilience.

    • Give your child independence; when they are trying  something new like climbing at the play ground or opening a container. Even if you think its to hard for them, LET THEM TRY.

    • Give your child the opportunity to wait patiently when required. I know so of you are thinking it is impossible and sometimes it is.  Trust me I know I have 3 children and it seems like they all start crying or something when I am trying to wait on something.

    • Do not give your child everything they desire(toys, foods, clothes ect.) This is hard to do when your in the store and your child starts screaming that they want a  toy or candy.  I usually say a firm "NO" and keep going if they continue then stop and say "Yes, you can have it another day".  If they still continue I usually leave the store and we sit in the car until they calm down.

    • Teach your child to identify struggles as a challenge they can over come.  And teach them a phrase like "Every challenge makes you stronger".  A lot of people get very stressed over challenges and not sure how to face them or just ignore them all together.  If you do this you are teaching your child this.  When they can over come challenges than they can do anything.

    • When your child is looking for something let them look for it themselves.

I have seen my children get very upset trying to do things and say "I cant do this".  I usually respond with "you can do it". If they need help after trying them take them through the steps and show them how to do it.

Teaching your children this will have major affects on them as adults and are usually very successful and can take on anything without falling to depression and anxiety.

    Homemade play doh, silly putty

    PLAY DOH

Kids are amazed when they learn how easy it is to make play dough with this activity.
    Recipe 1
    3 cups flour
    1.5 cups salt
    6 tsp. cream of tarter
    3 tbsp. oil
    3 cups water

Pour all ingredients into a large pot. Stir constantly over medium heat until a dough ball forms by pulling away from the sides. Knead dough until the texture matches play dough (1-2 minutes). Store in plastic container. Should last for at least 3 months.

    SILLY PUTTY

    1 Cup Elmer's glue
    2 1/2 Cup liquid starch
    Food coloring
In a bowl, mix glue and one cup of the starch together. Stir in a few drops of food coloring, if you wish. Cover bowl, and live it overnight. The following day slowly stir in with a spoon 1 to 1 1/2 cups of the starch until a big blob forms. Pour off extra starch. Store in an air tight container

Hope you have fun and enjoy making these.

    Rainy Day fun for kids

Most kids get very bored when its rainy and cold out side.  So to keep them from being bored I have some activities for you to do with them.

Go on a treasure hunt, Make  set of clues ,each clue leading to the next one and, finally, to the treasure. Seal them in envelopes marked with a clue number (i.e., 2/7, or “two of seven”); this will help the treasure hunters keep track. Whoever solves the clues first and finds the treasure -a small toy, an IOU for a movie, maybe a cache of coins (regular or chocolate) is the winner.

Make a bubble bath, kids always like to play in the bath.  Add some bubbles and toys and let them play.

Go camping indoors, if you have a small pop up tent set it up and let them play. If you don't have one make one with a blanket draped over something.  They will love it.

Bake some cookies, who doesn't love cookies??

    Marshmallow Popping Contest

    What You Need
    • scissors
    • utility knife
    • markers
    • ruler
    • rubber bands
    • glue
    • tape (transparent, duct, masking, or colored)
    • gift wrap or decorative paper
    • kraft paper
    • balloon, uninflated (1 per popper)
    • paper cup, bottom cut off (1 per popper)
    • mini marshmallows

    What to Do
    1. Knot the end of the balloon, then snip off ½ inch from the top.
    2. Stretch the balloon over the cutoff end of the cup so that the knot is in the center. (You’ll need to hold the balloon in place when you “pop,” or secure it with a rubber band for little hands.)
    3. Place a mini marshmallow into the cup so it fits snugly in the knotted center of the balloon. While aiming the cup away from you (and others), pull the knot back, release, and send the marshmallow soaring. See who can pop marshmallows the farthest or get the most into a bowl that’s a few feet away

Have a picnic indoors, throw a blanket down and have some finger foods together.

    baby shower ideas

    baby shower games samples

    <a href="http://cba339h-t7dn9rakve6d32klus.hop.clickbank.net/" target="_top">Click Here!</a>

OK for those expecting mother's here our some good ideas for baby showers.

    GAMES
Never say "Baby": (Materials- baby safety pins or another type of baby object you can place on a string for each woman at the party as well as string or yarn, enough for each woman to wear as a necklace). Have each woman place the necklace with the baby safety pins around her neck when she gets to the party. The rules for this baby shower game are given out at the beginning of the baby shower that whenever someone says the word "baby" during the shower, any woman who calls it out gets a pin from the other woman who stated the word. At the end of the baby shower, the woman with the most pins wins a prize.

Baby Shower Trivia Game - (Materials: Paper, Pens) - Have someone from the baby shower look up some great baby shower trivia prior to the party. Questions like: "How many babies are born a year", "What is the most common color used in a baby's room?", "What is the average weight of a baby?". Look up some great facts and have a ball playing this great baby shower game with your friends and family!

Guess the baby item: (Materials- any baby products and blindfold). A bag of baby items are placed in front of the mother-to-be for her to take one item out at a time blindfolded and tell her baby shower guests what item she has in her hands. This is really fun baby shower game when you choose some crazy baby toys or products.

    DECORATIONS

Miniature Baby Bottles - Binky'sTake three lifesavers together and place white frosting around them together. Take a pink jelleybelly or a blue jellybelly on top of one of them whether they are having a boy or girl. If not sure what the couple is having, do a pink and blue jellybelly mix. The white frosting should hold the jellybelly into place and then you will have little baby shower bottle decorations to spread across the room or on the tables.

Baby Booties candy holders Materials needed: Bathroom Disposable cups, Paper napkins, Cotton Balls, Ribbon, Baby Shower Candy.
Directions: Unfold the napkin, and sit a cup on the napkin and three cotton balls where the toes should be. Pull the napkin up and tuck into the top of the cup then tie some ribbon pretty yight around the cup about half way down in to a bow. It should look like a baby bootie then add candy kisses in the cup. Thanks to Patsy from SC for this great baby shower decoration that also makes a great little treat for everyone at the baby shower!

Diaper cakes are good decorations as well and you can use the diapers later.  Very simple and easy to make as well.

Here's a good idea for food decoration's.  Its so cute!

HOW TO SAVE MONEY WITH KIDS

we all know that it is expensive to have kids, trying to save money seems impossible.
I know that a lot of people have a lot of debt they are trying to pay off or trying to save for your child's college.  So I am going to give some tips to you so that you can save money. All it takes is a little bit of your time.

    For saving on diapers

sign up for Huggies rewards program.  This is a program that when you buy there diapers there is a code in them, simply enter in the code at their website and when you get enough codes you can redeem for more diapers, magazines, and many other things. I have got several toys off here, cups, and diapers, very good program.

    http://www.huggies.com/en-US/rewards

Pampers also has the same program
    https://en.pampersrewards.pampers.com/index.html

toys r us has the rewards are us program you get so many points every time you make a purchase and will send you a gift card when reaches $5.00.
     https://rewardsrus.toysrus.com/

Other ways I have found to save a lot of money is using coupons. I use coupons for everything that I buy.  You can print coupons from online or get them out of the Sunday paper.

I have also found that If you write the companies that they will send you coupons.  I usually give compliments about there products and ask for coupons and they usually send cents off coupons and some times free product coupons.

I have wrote several companies before with complaints and they will always send free product coupons of some way to give your money back.  I wrote Huggies the other day because the tabs kept ripping on the diapers and they sent me a visa card with $25 on it.  I am not saying to complain all the time when writing companies, but do let them know if something was wrong with it.

other ways that I save is using swagbucks.  This is a great way to get gift cards and save money just for searching the internet.  just go to this link to sign up and start getting gift cards. swagbucks.com/refer/murfjns87

recycle your kids clothing and toys

you can sell your kids toys and clothes so that you can have money to buy new ones.  I use Once upon a Child in our local town to do this or I have a yardsale.  There is some websites that you can mail them your stuff and they sell it online for you and send you the money. ebay is another good place to sell things.

You can also sign up for Freebies

I receive stuff in the mail everyday from signing up for freebies.  Its great way to try products and they are FREE.

    POTTY TRAINING TIPS

ALOT OF PARENTS WONDER WHEN THEY SHOULD START POTTY TRAINING.  I HAVE READ MANY ARTICLE THIS IS WHAT I HAVE FOUND ABOUT POTTY TRAINING.

SIGNS YOUR CHILD MAY BE READY

    • CHANGING FEWER DIAPERS THIS USUALLY MEANS THAT THEY HAVE LEARNED TO CONTROL THEIR BLADDER.

    • WHEN BOWEL MOVEMENTS ARE PREDICTIBLE
    • WHEN THEY BROADCAST THIER BODILY FUNCTIONS   IF THEY TELL YOU THEY POOPED OR PEE THEN THIS IS A VERY GOOD SIGN THEY ARE READY
    • THEY DONT LIKE HAVE DIRTY DIAPERS ON
    • DEMANDING THAT YOU SHOW THEM HOW TO USE POTTY
IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.  I FOUND THAT WITH MY OWN CHILDREN THAT I NEEDED TO MAKE IT MORE INTERESTING AFTER A WHILE.

FOR BOYS YOU CAN PUT SOME CHEERIOS IN THE TOLIET AND LET THEM PEE ON THEM, KIND OF LIKE A GAME.
USING THE BATH TUB COLOR TABLETS THAT CHANGE THE WATER IS ALSO GOOD, JUST DROP ON IN THE TOILET BEFORE USING BATHROOM AND WHEN YOU PEE IN IT, IT WILL CHANGE COLOR.  SO KIND OF A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT AT THE SAME TIME OF LEARNING TO USE THE POTTY.  I HAVE DONE THIS AND IT WILL NOT STAIN THE TOILET.

REWARD CHARTS, PRIZE BOX, AND THERE IS EVEN A APP ON PHONES THAT WILL KEEP TRACK OF THE POTTY PROGRESS AND KEEP TRACK OF TIME IF YOU TAKE THEM AT CERTAIN TIMES.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU PRAISE THEM, DONT RUSH THEM AND PUSH THEM TO USE TOILET AS YOU MAY SCARE THEM.

HERE IS SOME LINKS FOR POTTY TRAINING CHARTS THAT YOU CAN PRINT TO USE.
